The Penske Racing driver’s win Saturday is being called brilliant. He chased down five-time IndyCar champion Scott Dixon in the rain and passed him with less than two laps left in the two-hour race. His 2016 Funny Car championship was his high point. The win Sunday, though, closes a dry spell for Capps. The 2-18 NHRA Top Fuel Champion earned his first win of 2019 in a race format he doesn’t really appreciate like other drivers do. But you need to listen quickly to Torrence. At 18 he already has at least three years of racing experience in stock cars and trucks. His win in the General Tire 200 at Talladega was another step in a career that’s experienced great success, more than his father, David Gilliland, had in his NASCAR career. Listen…

Alexander RossiIndyCar Long Beach Winner Alexander Rossi came into The Freak Nation shortly after his second straight win at the Long Beach Grand Prix. Rossi won the Pole and dominated the race Sunday afternoon. He got the win driving a Honda powered car in front of the President and CEO of American Honda. Robert HIghtNHRA Houston Funny Car Winner Robert Hight won his first ract in Houston 48 wins ago. He came into the Freak Nation then and he came back Sunday night. In between there were many visits but this time he talked about the missing Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle classes that weren’t at the Houston Springnationals. Hight also talked about how other racing series can take advantage of the technology in drag racing to get better at THEIR racing disciplines. Listen…

His race Saturday had a dramatic finish. His teammate Felipe Albuquerque had to hold off a late race charge from Ricky Taylor in an Acura. Sato drives for Rahal, Letterman Lanigan Racing and his win came in front of one of his bosses, David Letterman, the former talkshow host.
